Tablevibe, a Singapore-based provider of customer relationship management solutions to restaurants, has collaborated with delivery riders to offer a commission-free online ordering system to its partner restaurants in the city-state.

This development comes after Tablevibe teamed up with DoorDash to roll out the service earlier this year in the US, Canada, and Australia.

“It is on our roadmap to expand through Southeast Asia, but there is no definite timeframe on this yet,” Tablevibe COO Mathieu Sneep told Tech in Asia.

The commission-free online ordering system adds to the company’s offering of a white-label software and a website for restaurants, which allow customers to order directly from dining places.

Using the new system, Tablevibe automatically sources a delivery rider once an order is placed. The delivery fee starts at a base rate of S$6 (US$4.31) then increases by S$1 (US$0.72) per kilometer, based on the distance between the restaurant and the delivery location.

The restaurant can also opt to split the delivery cost, cover the delivery fee entirely, or have the customer pay the fee. Riders will still take 100% of the delivery fee.

Sneep said that this benefits delivery partners by offering their riders more jobs.

As for restaurants, they make the most from having direct control of their customer relationships and avoiding the high commission rates that are typically imposed by third-party delivery apps. The system can slash the cost of sales by up to 72%, according to Sneep.

In turn, Tablevibe charges its customers a fee – 5% for delivery and 2% for pickup – based on the total value of the food ordered. Again, restaurants get to decide how to divide this fee with the customer.

“We do not charge upfront fees, fixed costs, or commissions to restaurants. Eateries typically use part of their cost savings to cover customer transaction fees and further incentivize direct ordering. It’s a win-win,” says Tablevibe CEO Jeroen Rutten.

The company was founded in 2021 by former Google execs Sneep and Rutten, along with Guido Caldara, an ex-lead teacher at coding school Le Wagon. Tablevibe raised US$1.5 million in a seed round in November 2021 and was part of Y Combinator’s summer batch that year.
